Jolene Project
We provide instructions and materials for students to build a 'Jolene', which is a mannequin equipped with a device that measures the sound levels of personal stereo systems. Jolenes display the decibel level that an MP3 player can blast into a listener's ears. When a Jolene is brought to a school, health fair or other public event, it attracts a crowd and dramatically increases awareness of the problem of noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL). Click here to learn more about Jolene mannequins.
Community Service Hours are available for student participation. Contact us to volunteer.
